The Tacoma Rainiers fell 12-8 to the Oklahoma City Comets in a high-scoring battle Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium.
The Comets jumped out early as Esteury Ruiz’s leadoff single and aggressive baserunning paved the way for Ryan Ward’s RBI hit.
After quickly falling behind, Tacoma answered back with a two-run homer from Leo Rivas—his 10th of the season—narrowing the deficit to just one run.
Oklahoma City’s bats, however, remained hot, collecting 19 hits and four home runs, including blasts by Noah Miller and Ward.
Relievers William Fleming and Domingo Gonzalez ran into trouble, giving up key runs that allowed the Comets to pull away.
Bright spots for Tacoma included three hits from Samad Taylor and an energetic two-run single by Rhylan Thomas.
With the series ongoing, local fans are invited to support the Rainiers as they regroup and push for a comeback at home.
